ISSF President visits Baku for World Championships debrief and to discuss future events

ISSF President Luciano Rossi visited Baku to meet Azerbaijan’s Minister of the Interior Eyvazov Vilayat Suleyman oglu to debrief on events at the recent World Championships and to plan future co-operation for development and event organisation.

Mr Suleyman oglu, who is also President of the Azerbaijan shooting federation, confirmed that the excellent experience of hosting the World Championships, where Olympic quota places were at stake, has helped to build interest in shooting sports and that Azerbaijan is now looking forward with great anticipation to hosting the ISSF World Cup for all disciplines in 2024 and making Azerbaijan a “must visit” destination again.

With final Olympic qualifications for 2023 available, almost simultaneously, at the Pan-Am Games in Santiago de Chile, (20 October until 5 November),  the Asia Championships in Changwon, Korea (22 October until 2 November) and the Oceania Championships in Brisbane, Australia (30 October – 6 November), President Rossi said:

“My visit to Baku has been extremely fruitful as we could share experiences and discuss new opportunities, but with three major events taking place in the Americas, Asia and Oceania over the next two weeks, I also want to wish all athletes the best of luck, as they compete to win a place at the Olympic Games in Paris and fulfil their Olympic dreams.”
