The likelihood of a repeat staging by Doha next year of the ISSF World Cup final was top of the agenda when the ISSF’s President Luciano Rossi visited the Qatar Olympic Committee during the opening day of full action at the event currently underway.
The President discussed the possibility of a second staging – something that was hinted at during his speech during Sunday’s Opening Ceremony – with Dr Thani Abdulrahman Al-Kuwari, Second Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC).
The future of sport shooting, which will feature at the Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, was also discussed.
Mr Thani remarked on the importance of gender equality in the sport.
Qatar has so far secured two quota places for the Paris 2024 Olympics, where the shooting programme is scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 5.
