The United States won team gold and bronze on the second day of finals at the Olympic Qualification CAT XIV Shotgun Championships – the Championship of the Americas – staged in the Dominican Republic capital of Santo Domingo.

Ryann Phillips, Carey Garrison and Ida Brown secured a 7-3 victory in the trap team women final over the Mexico trio of Victoria Antopia Palacios, Alejandro Ramirez Caballero and Cinthya Clemenz Maya.

The 38-year-old from Girard, Kansas, who did not take the Olympic quota place on offer in the men’s final as he had already secured a quota place in winning the world title in 2022, scored 16 of his 20 shots.

Gold in the men’s team event went to the Guatemala’s Hebert Brol, Jean Pierre Brol Cardenas and Fernando Brol, who beat the Brazilian trio of Jaison Santin, Hussein Dariuch and Haddy Gomes 7-1.
