The ISSF Workshop which starts tomorrow in Munich will bring together all elements of the sport for two days of intensive discussion and innovation.
ISSF President Luciano Rossi will open the event before providing his annual report to the gathered delegates and looking ahead to a season that will culminate in the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.
Delegates will be brought up to speed on Olympic developments on the opening morning as Peter Underhill, the Paris 2024 shooting competition manager, covers general preparations for the Games, plans for the sport’s presentation and the training of technical officials.
He will also brief the meeting on the Paris 2024 shooting test event set to take place in April.
An introduction by the ISSF secretary general Willi Grill, detailing the objectives and agenda of the workshop, will be followed by a review and analysis of this year’s ISSF Championships by Jörg Brokamp, chair of the ISSF technical committee.
Tyler Anderson, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) shooting sport manager, will present a report on the 2023 Para-clay target Shooting Grand Prix and the Paralympic shotgun shooting development project.
He will also speak about this year’s IPC Championships and the highly significant topic of future co-operation between the IPC and ISSF.
The opportunities offered by E-Games will be presented by Kiishiro Matsumaru, the ISSF E-Sport committee chair, as well as an account of the E-Games Singapore report and E-Games Paris 2024.
After a section on RTS Operations presented by Willi Grill, Gerard Trotta, chair of the ISSF pistol committee, will speak about how to prepare Championship schedules, followed by Dr James Lally, chair of the ISSF medical committee, reportingon Organising Committee anti-doping responsibilities.
The latter subject will be addressed in a different form as Dr Stefan Nolte, ISSF member of the medical committee, offers a special session for technical delegates on supervising ISSF doping controls.
The subjects of ISSF juries and their work, and of “mini-problems” often encountered by event organisers, will be addressed respectively by Ghislaine Briez, the ISSF judges committee chair, and Biserka Vrbek, chair of the ISSF statutes and eligibility committee.
The key area of ISSF communications and ISSF TV will be addressed by Leonardo De Mai, the ISSF TV manager.
Nick Davies, ISSF communications manager, will further develop this theme on day two as he offers an ISSF communications update which will involve interactive discussions with organisers.
There will also be a presentation on marketing the sport.
Shotgun competition operations and sustainable competitions will be the topics opening the second day of discussion, respectively conducted by Mohamed Wahdan, chair of the ISSF shotgun committee, and Dr Sandra Honour, chair of the ISSF sustainability committee.
Cassio Rippel, chair of the ISSF athletes committee, will present the latest recommendations from competitors for improving ISSF Championships, followed by a similar presentation on behalf of coaches from Csaba Györik, chair of the ISSF coaches committee.
The topic of Finals will be the subject of presentations by Ivan Carella, President Trap Concaverde, who will discuss planning and preparation, and Paul Gumn, ISSF member of the technical committee, who will speak on the subject of range design and sport presentation for pistol and rifle events.
Rifle, pistol and shotgun equipment control will be the topic presented by Rosane Ramos, ISSF member of the technical committee, followed by a report on future rifle and pistol event qualification by David Goodfellow, chair of the ISSF rifle committee.
Daniele Ghelfi, ISSF technical committee member,will offer the same information from the point of view of shotgun competition before the Workshop is officially closed by the ISSF President.
